Chill a coupe glass.
Combine the gin, lemon juice and orgeat in a shaker.
Add a dash of Angostura bitters.
Add ice and shake hard for 12 seconds.
Fine-strain into the chilled coupe and serve.
Associated with the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. and popularised by David Embury's 1948 Fine Art of Mixing Drinks, though Embury himself was rude about it. The orgeat is doing all the work — a thin, artificial one will flatten the drink completely.
