The Hurricane was invented by Pat O'Brien in 1940s New Orleans as a way to offload surplus rum - distributors required bars to buy cases of it before they could order more popular spirits. The signature Hurricane glass was named after the lamp-shaped vessel it was originally served in.
My Bar Shelf reads your shelf and shows you every cocktail you can make from what you already own, including Hurricane.
