From the Bartender

The Godmother is a close cousin of the Godfather - which swaps vodka for Scotch - and both drinks emerged in the 1970s as amaretto's popularity surged. Using a quality vodka with minimal character lets the amaretto's almond and marzipan notes take centre stage.
