Fill an old fashioned glass with large ice cubes.
Pour the Scotch whisky over the ice.
Add the Drambuie.
Stir gently 8–10 times to combine and lightly chill without over-diluting.
Express a lemon zest over the glass, run it around the rim, and place it in the drink as garnish.
The ratio of Scotch to Drambuie is a matter of personal taste - a 2:1 ratio as here is a good starting point, but spirit-forward drinkers often prefer 3:1 or even 4:1 to let the whisky lead. Choose a blended Scotch like Johnnie Walker Black for approachability, or a peated single malt for a smokier, more dramatic result.
