Manhattan

Rye whiskey is the traditional and preferred base for a Manhattan - its spice and dryness cut through the sweetness of vermouth far more effectively than bourbon, which can make the drink cloying.

Ingredients
Rye Whiskey50 ml
Sweet Red Vermouth20 ml
Angostura Bitters2 dashes
Ice Cubes
Cocktail Cherry
Glassware
Cocktail Glass
Chilled.
Method

    Add rye whiskey, sweet red vermouth, and Angostura bitters to a mixing glass.

    Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes.

    Stir steadily for approximately 30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.

    Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

    Garnish with a cocktail cherry and serve immediately.
