From the Bartender

Created in the mid-2000s in the New York bar scene as an applejack answer to the Red Hook and Greenpoint family of Brooklyn variations. Bonded applejack at 50% ABV is what the drink is built for — a softer apple brandy will be swamped by the Fernet.
