Add 45ml fresh lime juice, 15ml simple syrup, 60ml London Dry gin, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to a highball glass.
Fill the glass almost to the top with crushed ice.
Insert a swizzle stick or bar spoon into the drink, placing it between your palms, and rapidly spin back and forth for 15–20 seconds until the outside of the glass frosts over.
Top with 90ml club soda and give one gentle stir to integrate.
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge and serve immediately.
The swizzle technique is key - vigorous spinning of the swizzle stick chills and dilutes the drink simultaneously while coating the outside of the glass in a satisfying layer of frost, a hallmark of any proper swizzle. This method originated in the Caribbean where swizzle sticks were carved from the natural branches of the Quararibea turbinata tree.
