From the Bartender

The swizzle technique is key - vigorous spinning of the swizzle stick chills and dilutes the drink simultaneously while coating the outside of the glass in a satisfying layer of frost, a hallmark of any proper swizzle. This method originated in the Caribbean where swizzle sticks were carved from the natural branches of the Quararibea turbinata tree.
