Combine the gin, blended Scotch and absinthe in a shaker.
Add ice and shake hard for 10 seconds.
Fine-strain into a small chilled coupe.
Serve without garnish, and serve it short.
From the Savoy Cocktail Book of 1930, named after a ragtime dance. It is a genuine historical curiosity rather than a nightly drink — pour it in 45ml total if you want to taste it rather than survive it. Some later versions cut the absinthe to a dash, which is sensible and much less interesting.
