The Rum Runner was reportedly invented at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada in the 1950s as a way to use up excess stock of rum and liqueurs. For a richer, more classic version, swap the spiced rum for a split of dark and white rum and add a float of overproof rum on top.
