The Boulevardier was created by Erskine Gwynne, an American expat writer living in Paris in the 1920s, and first appeared in Harry McElhone's 1927 book 'Barflies and Cocktails.' Rye whiskey sharpens the cocktail with spice, while bourbon rounds it with caramel sweetness - both are excellent choices worth trying.
My Bar Shelf reads your shelf and shows you every cocktail you can make from what you already own, including Boulevardier.
