Chill a cocktail glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the drink.
Combine gin, maraschino liqueur, crème de violette, and fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with cracked ice and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.
Discard the ice from the chilled glass, then fine-strain the cocktail into it.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
