Add dry vermouth, gin, and Bénédictine to a mixing glass.
Fill the mixing glass two-thirds with ice and stir for 20–25 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Serve without garnish, or optionally express a lemon peel over the surface, then discard.
The Bénédictine here acts as a subtle modifier rather than a feature ingredient - at just 8ml it rounds the botanical edges of the gin and softens the austerity of dry vermouth without sweetening the drink. Stir with intention: under-dilution will leave the alcohol harsh and the herbal notes closed.
