    Warm a heatproof mug with hot water, then discard it.

    Add the honey and lemon juice and stir until the honey dissolves.

    Add the blended Scotch.

    Top with hot but not boiling water and stir once.

    Garnish with a lemon wheel studded with cloves and a cinnamon stick.

From the Bartender

Scottish in origin and named from a Hindi word for palm sap, which arrived home with the East India Company. Never use boiling water: it scalds the honey and drives off everything worth smelling. Irish whiskey and bourbon both work; a peated malt does not.
