Pre-chill an old-fashioned glass.
Prepare one orange zest twist and one lemon zest twist and set aside.
Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, and red bitter aperitivo in a mixing glass.
Add ice and stir for approximately 20–25 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.
Place a large ice cube in the pre-chilled glass.
Strain the cocktail over the ice cube.
Hold the orange zest twist skin-side down over the glass and express its oils across the surface; rest it on the rim.
Repeat with the lemon zest twist, expressing its oils over the cocktail and using both twists as the garnish.
The ratio of bitter aperitivo here is intentionally restrained at 7.5ml - roughly a third of a standard Negroni measure - allowing the elderflower liqueur to hold the centre without tipping the drink into sweetness. Expressing both orange and lemon zests adds layered citrus aromatics that bridge the floral and bitter elements.
